You can become a counselor by doing a course from a university or some private college but there are other openings also like taking private training under some reputed counselor who has a vast experience in this field. There are certain voluntary agencies also which does the charity work and provide the training. These are ‘Relate’ or ‘Cruse’. You can become a competent counselor by getting training from them in your part time. There are some local agencies also which provide training and other voluntary organizations and the experience gained there can be better than any experience gained in a college. Sometimes a person can become a good counselor through his profession like teachers, social workers, nurses, assistants, doctors, etc. They attend alot of seminars and they have counseling based practice so they get good counseling experience.
