Counseller

Numerous counseling courses are in the market but the one done through a recognized educational institution is the best since it has some value in the market.  Different schools have different counseling programs so you should go for the one of your choice where you can get your choice. 

You can become a counselor by doing a course from a university or some private college but there are other openings also like taking private training under some reputed counselor who has a vast experience in this field.

There are certain voluntary agencies also which does the charity work and provide the training.  These are ‘Relate’ or ‘Cruse’.  You can become a competent counselor by getting training from them in your part time.  There are some local agencies also which provide training and other voluntary organizations and the experience gained there can be better than any experience gained in a college.

Sometimes a person can become a good counselor through his profession like teachers, social workers, nurses, assistants, doctors, etc.  They attend alot of seminars and they have counseling based practice so they get good counseling experience.  Even in some cases, it is seen that they have become full time counselors in their different respective fields.

MAIN POINTS FOR A GOOD COUNSELOR:

Experience and personal qualities
Certificate from a recognized college/agency.
System of redresser
Recognized professional code of conduct.


There are no such fixed criteria for qualification.  It can be a degree course/diploma course/certificate course etc.  The practical working hours may also be different from one day to the next.
